The one that is closest to my heart is the need to Cure Autism. I would love it if this blog does nothing more than spread the word that this condition is not a joke and that we can all do our part to help bring about a cure. Once a cause is found, the cure won't be far behind. There are people suffering and 'losing' their kids and they don't know why. Early testing and intervention can steer these families towards treatment options and therapies. Please learn more and spread the knowledge to everyone you know so that the misconceptions and prejudices can be dismissed and the work can be done.

Done with my rant - Thanks!

Wilma's really chapping my ass...

More weather. It had been a quiet summer. There was time to worry about something besides hurricanes and tropical storms. I was almost back at that place where I could listen to that foreboding Bay News 9 music on the freakin' 9's without flashing back to 'Nam, like all last summer and fall. The summer of my discontent, if you will allow a bit of artistic license. And now here comes Wilma. The prediction tracking looks hopeful for my neighborhood, but I'm still wary. They haven't gotten this down yet. Oh, they're good, but not as good as they think they are. Kinda like a local cover rock band at the end of their final set. They think they sound just like the band they're emulating, but you know better. You're not that drunk. But they're trying, just like the weather boys and girls. And isn't that all we ask? Well, yeah, but I want more. I want to close my eyes and think a real rock star is playing, and I want to watch the weather update and not feel that foreboding cramp in my intestines that this season brings on. It's the uncertainty that gets my anticipatory anxiety juices flowing. So here's hoping this Bedrock housewife doesn't stop and ask directions to the Gator Club. Let her head right out to the Atlantic without doing much more harm along the way. Move along, ya wee lass. Doncha know we're tired and Home Depot is out of plywood? There's that damn music on the 9's again. Better get an update. Everybody stay safe.

Welcome to the Fantabulous World of Mare

A place to muse. A blog. I think everyone should have one. Maybe everyone does have one. Maybe I'm the last one to enter the kingdom of blogging. I'm not, right? Nah, there are still a few anonymous people out there, I just know it. Wonder why they're holding back? Nothing to say? Ha! Everyone has something to say, maybe they just really hate typing. Or they have jobs. Jobs that take time away from important stuff like writing on your very own blog. Hope this one turns out to be interesting. Hope it's not filled with self important rehashed opinions on topics that no one really cares about. Hope it's at the very least a little funny. We'll see. Enjoy.
